With her husband Rick McGowan BSc (Hons), a firefighter and company secretary, Denise runs Evanji Ltd. She has two daughters aged 14 and 12 and is a qualified teacher and former secondary school head of department.
In addition to Evanji, they both work with hot and cold glass, specialising in fused glass, silver and enamelled jewellery and tiffany/lead stained glass. As you can see, having a family and a successful business (or two) can run side-by-side. Indeed, the majority of our practitioners have children of their own, and most combine sugaring with other enterprises.
Evanji are specialists in the Ancient Arabic Art of Hair Removal by hand sugaring. We manufacture a paste of sugar, lemon and water that qualified Practitioners massage onto the skin. No nasty chemicals are used. This is then removed by hand, taking dead skin and hair with it. The treatment is gentle enough to use over eczema and psoriasis, yet effective enough to remove stubborn hair.
Around the time of the menopause many ladies experience excessive hair growth and this is a very natural method of removing this from the root. The hair that returns is always softer, sparser and lighter in colour. Any area of the body can be treated.
